Social Security

Social Security has a very serious long-term solvency problem due to the longstanding raiding of the contributions of workers and employers in order to pay general fund expenditures.

Issues with Social Security are also compounded by an aging population of Baby Boomers with increased life expectancies reaching retirement age.

  • I support government management as opposed to replacement by a private sector plan.
  • I support eliminating, in steps, the raiding of Social Security funds from our general budget, and I believe that it was an irresponsible decision on the part of Congress and the President to ever do so.
  • I support the continued gradual increase in social security eligibility age, commensurate with increased life-expectancy, and the phasing out of the early retirement option.
