Environment and Global Warming
Carbon dioxide increases heat entrapment in the earth’s atmosphere and it is a scientific fact that the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is 40% higher now than at any peak level since humans have inhabited the earth.
- We must support the continuation of the major bipartisan legislation passed in the 1970’s to protect our environment
- We must make strong measures to protect the earth from global warming for the sake of future generations and because the effects of climate change fall most harshly on the poor and decrease our long-term national security. These include: research on ways to reduce global warming, reasonable incentives to carbon reducing energy production, ending subsidies to fossil fuel industries, enacting a carbon tax, and the beginning of a long-term reduction of the consumption of meat, as the meat industry is a major source of carbon in the atmosphere.
